"For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but its surroundings bring it to life— the air and the light"

— Monet

Fun Fact:

En plein air, French for outside, is a phrase used by artists who create artworks outdoors. With plein air painting, the artist puts themselves in the environment of their subject matter and paint purely on live observation.

Whenever I am traveling, I always bring a Tupperware container of gauche or watercolor, a few paint brushes, and a small mixed media sketch pad. I’ll bring my supplies to the beach, on hikes, outside to tan, and even on kayaks! While these are all just for fun, I hope to one day create large plein air watercolor paintings that require me to stay on site for weeks at a time. Come along for the ride! See what we can make together :)
